About Us

Our Purpose and Vision

As the recognised national governing body for swimming, artistic swimming, diving and water polo in England, Swim England helps people learn how to swim, enjoy the water safely, and compete in all our sports.

Our Vision : Great experiences in water.  For all.  For Life.

Our Mission : To lead and serve an aquatics community to enable safe, enjoyable and successful experiences.

It is one of the nation’s most popular recreational activities enjoyed by millions of people in England.

Swim England, through aquatics, is uniquely placed to tackle inequalities and support health and wellbeing given the activities’ accessibility to people of all ages and abilities. On top of this, aquatics is made up of four amazing Olympic and Paralympic sports with our network of clubs and talent pathways supporting people to realise their full potential in the water.

In March of 2024, we published in full the findings of an independent listening research report commissioned as part of our pledge to create a better future for everyone involved in aquatic sports. We are committed to only recruiting individuals who are as passionate as we are about being on this journey.

About The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Marketing and Communications Assistant to join our team.

Are you passionate about marketing and communications? Do you have a keen interest in sports, particularly swimming? Are you excited to get closer to the Glasgow 2026 action?

This role is pivotal in supporting the delivery of our Marketing and Communications annual plan, including the coverage of all Swim England national events.

You will be based at Sport Park with the flexibility to work from home up to two days a week.

The role is full time (35 hours per week) but we are open to flexible working hours to suit the successful candidate providing that they also meet business requirements.

We are Swim England, the national governing body for swimming, para swimming, diving, water polo and artistic swimming. We are on a mission to make aquatic activity accessible for all — from toddlers learning to float, to Olympians chasing gold, to wild swimmers fighting for clean water.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Content Development: Support the Sport Directorate in creating engaging content for various platforms, ensuring it is published in the best format for our audiences.
  • Event Coverage: Attend Swim England national events, producing reports and engaging digital content for our website and social media channels.
  • Website Management: Manage and update content for key departments within the Sport Directorate, such as Talent, Clubs, and Volunteering.
  • Exploring the aquatics world: You’ll be out and about visiting our Regions and clubs to understand what makes them tick, and what we need to do to adapt to their needs.
  • Innovation: Identify new solutions and opportunities to achieve business goals, making proposals to the rest of the team.
  • Media Activity: Support the team with proactive and reactive media activities.

About You

You don’t need to be able to swim to work with us, but a passion for the role that sport and physical activity can play in society would be advantageous!

What we’re looking for:
  • An enthusiastic, proactive and positive person who is really keen to learn about the world of marketing and communications.
  • Good written skills with great attention to detail — you will be writing content for our website, social media channels and more.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and how they can help drive Swim England forward to achieving our goals.
  • Someone who understands one (or more) of our sports having lived it as part of a Swim England aquatics club.

Why Swim England?

This is a great first step into the world of sports marketing and communications for anyone looking to dip their toe in!

We launched our ‘One Swim England’ strategy at the end of 2024, and the next few years are set to be a really exciting time for the organisation…and you can play your part on the journey.
